Legal Term
Automatic Renewal Clause in Ballroom Dance Studio Package Contracts
Legal Definition
A contractual provision wherein the initial term of a membership or package agreement is automatically extended for an additional successive period (e.g., month-to-month, year-to-year) unless the member provides written notice of cancellation within a specified time frame prior to the end of the current term.
In Plain English
A 'hidden' trap where your dance studio contract keeps renewing itself for another full period (like another year) unless you actively cancel it by a strict deadline. You don't have to sign again; it just happens unless you stop it.
Example in a Contract
TERM AND RENEWAL. This Agreement shall commence on the Effective Date and shall continue for a period of twelve (12) months. This Agreement shall automatically renew for successive twelve (12) month terms unless Member provides Studio with written notice of non-renewal via certified mail or email to contracts@studioname.com at least thirty (30) days prior to the expiration of the then-current term. All payments due under any automatically renewed term shall be processed using the payment method on file. This is an evergreen renewal clause.
