Legal Definition

A legally binding written instrument executed by a volunteer that (1) waives the volunteer’s right to sue, (2) releases the nonprofit thrift store and its affiliates from all claims, demands, and causes of action arising out of the volunteer’s participation, and (3) may include an indemnification provision whereby the volunteer agrees to hold the organization harmless for any losses caused by the volunteer’s negligence.
