Community Sports League Volunteer Waiver for Injury Liability

Legal Definition

A legally binding document, typically a release and waiver of liability, signed by a volunteer for a community sports league. It is designed to protect the league, its officers, and other participants from civil liability for injuries sustained by the volunteer during league activities, based on the volunteer's express assumption of the inherent risks and, in many cases, a release of claims for ordinary negligence.

In Plain English

A form you sign before volunteering for a community sports league that says you won't sue the league if you get hurt, even if their mistake caused the injury. It's your agreement to take on the risks of helping out.

Example in a Contract

I expressly assume the inherent risks of volunteering, including but not limited to [list specific activities, e.g., setting up equipment, officiating games, concessions duties].
