Legal Term
Teacher Independent Contractor Agreement
Legal Definition
A contract between an educational entity (like a school, tutoring platform, or training company) and a self-employed teacher, where the teacher provides services such as instruction, curriculum development, or consulting without being classified as an employee. The teacher typically controls their own schedule, tools, and tax obligations, while the company pays for defined deliverables.
In Plain English
It's the contract you sign when you teach for a company as your own boss—not as their staff. You're hired for a specific job, but they don't pay your taxes or benefits.
Example in a Contract
